Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops neutralise two terrorists, recover AK-47 and motorcycles, and support NDLEA drug raid.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have repelled terrorist attacks in Katsina and Kebbi states, neutralising two terrorists, rescuing abducted construction workers and recovering arms and motorcycles.

The operations were carried out on Friday, 14 August 2026, according to a statement issued on Saturday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force.

In Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to reported terrorist activity and engaged the attackers in a firefight.

The troops neutralised two terrorists, while others fled the area. An AK-47 rifle and a magazine were recovered during the operation.

In southern Kebbi State, troops operating under Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV responded to a distress call over the abduction of construction workers at Tsatsunbe village.

The troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon the workers and flee. Three motorcycles were recovered, while all the construction workers were rescued and safely returned to their camp.

One of the workers, who sustained an injury during the incident, was evacuated to a military medical facility for treatment.

In another operation in Katsina State, troops supported the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Malumfashi Area Command, in a raid on a suspected drug peddler’s hideout in Gozaki village, Kafur Local Government Area.

The operation led to the recovery of quantities of suspected illicit drugs, which were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action.

The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated its commitment to protecting communities, safeguarding economic activities and restricting the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements across its area of responsibility.
