Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has released its 2026 admission requirements for candidates seeking admission into its Mass Communication and Public Relations programmes.

According to the university's Directorate of Academic Planning, candidates seeking admission through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) must possess five credit passes in their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent qualifications.

The required credits must include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects from the Arts or Social Sciences, obtained in not more than two sittings.

For UTME subject combinations, candidates are required to sit English Language and any other three subjects from the Arts or Social Sciences.

The university also outlined requirements for Direct Entry candidates seeking admission into the two programmes.

Candidates applying through IJMB, HSC, GCE Advanced Level or NCE must obtain a minimum of six points in relevant subject areas. They must also satisfy the specified Advanced Level subject requirements.

Additionally, candidates with a minimum of Lower Credit in National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication, Journalism or a related discipline from recognised institutions may be considered for admission.

However, all Direct Entry candidates must also satisfy the university's UTME admission requirements.

Meanwhile, the university has released a revised academic calendar for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

Under the revised schedule, semester examinations are scheduled to run from October 26 to November 21, 2026, while the semester break will commence on November 22, 2026, and end on February 28, 2027.
