The Katsina State Hisbah Board has directed commanders across the state’s 34 local government areas to ensure strict compliance with approved ranks, official identification and restrictions on the disclosure of government information on social media.

The directive was contained in an internal circular dated October 9, 2026, addressed to all 34 local government Hisbah commanders and headquarters.

The circular, signed by Bello Gatari Barau, Director of Administration and Supplies, said the directive followed an approval conveyed in a letter dated March 13, 2026.

It directed all commanders to ensure that Hisbah personnel do not assume, use, display or parade themselves under ranks other than those officially approved and conferred on them by the competent authority.

The board also instructed local government commanders to verify the ranks and official designations of all personnel under their supervision, warning that violators would face appropriate disciplinary action.

On social media activities, the circular directed commanders to instruct their information and communications technology (ICT) personnel and other members of the Hisbah to refrain from unauthorised or inappropriate posts, publications, comments, photographs and videos relating to the board and its operations.

It further prohibited the dissemination of classified, confidential and sensitive information without authorisation.

According to the circular, all official information intended for public consumption must receive the approval of the Commander-General before publication.

The board urged all commanders to treat the directive seriously and ensure full compliance within their respective commands.
