Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has introduced new mobile and web applications designed to give customers quicker and more convenient access to electricity services without having to visit its offices.
The new MyPower Mobile and Web Apps were unveiled as part of activities marking Customer Service Week, with the electricity distributor saying the platforms are aimed at making everyday transactions easier, faster and more secure for its customers.
AEDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chijioke Okwuokenye, said the new digital channels were developed to give customers greater control over their electricity accounts while allowing them to access key services from their phones, computers or other internet-enabled devices.
With the new platforms, customers can purchase electricity tokens, settle bills, report outages and other service-related problems, as well as submit complaints and monitor the progress of their requests.
The apps will also allow users to check their electricity consumption, retrieve bills and payment receipts, manage multiple meters or accounts and update their personal information without relying on physical customer service centres.
Okwuokenye described the launch as another milestone in AEDC’s digital transformation programme, saying technology was increasingly being deployed to make the company’s services more responsive to customers’ needs.
One of the features introduced with the platforms is staff verification, which allows customers to confirm the identity of AEDC personnel before allowing them into their homes or premises.
The company said the feature was designed to provide an additional layer of security during interactions between customers and field personnel, particularly when staff require access to customer premises.
AEDC said customers would have the flexibility to choose between the mobile application and web platform depending on how they prefer to access its services. While smartphone users can use the mobile app, customers who prefer computers or mobile browsers can access the web version.
Chief Operating Officer of AEDC, Blessing Ogbe, said the new platforms were developed around the company’s efforts to improve the overall customer experience.
According to her, customer feedback would continue to influence the way AEDC develops its processes, digital channels and service delivery.
She said the company would continue to upgrade the platforms and introduce additional features as it gathers feedback and identifies new ways to make electricity-related transactions more convenient.
The launch comes as electricity distribution companies across Nigeria increasingly turn to digital platforms to reduce dependence on physical customer service channels and give consumers more direct access to billing, payments, complaints and other electricity services.
AEDC said the MyPower platforms would continue to evolve as the company expands its digital operations and seeks to provide customers with more convenient ways to manage their electricity services.
