Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has signed the state’s N828.6 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, setting the stage for implementation of what the administration has branded “Building Your Future IV.”

Radda signed the budget on Wednesday evening at the Government House Chamber in Katsina, in the presence of Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya, and other lawmakers.

The development places Katsina among the earliest states to conclude its budget process for the 2027 fiscal year, with the governor’s assent coming only weeks after the proposal was presented to the lawmakers for consideration.

The governor said the budget was shaped by consultations with residents across the state, explaining that government officials had engaged stakeholders in all 361 wards to identify priority projects and needs.

Radda described the legislation as a “people’s budget,” expressing optimism that its implementation would accelerate socio-economic development and improve the welfare of residents.

He also praised the State House of Assembly for the speed with which it scrutinised and passed the proposal after it was presented.

The final appropriation retains expenditure figures broadly similar to those contained in the original proposal submitted by the governor to the legislature.

Providing details of the approved budget, Speaker Nasir Yahaya said the state had approved a total expenditure of N828.6 billion for the coming fiscal year.

Of the total, more than N637 billion is earmarked for capital expenditure, representing the larger share of the budget, while over N190 billion is allocated to recurrent expenditure.

The capital component is expected to finance government projects and development programmes across sectors, while the recurrent allocation will cover the running of government and other recurring obligations.

Yahaya said the legislature would continue to collaborate with the executive to ensure that approved programmes translate into tangible benefits for communities across Katsina.

He pledged that lawmakers would continue to exercise their legislative responsibilities while working with the executive to ensure that the benefits of government reach residents across the state.

With the governor’s assent, the 2027 budget is now the legal spending framework for Katsina State for the coming fiscal year, subject to implementation by the relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
