Security forces have neutralized 18 suspected bandits during an operation in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, recovering arms, ammunition, motorcycles and rustled livestock.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Monday, September 21, 2026, at Gidan Iyado, Kakumi Ward, followed intelligence reports on a planned abduction attempt. The joint team comprising hunters, Community Watch Corps members and local vigilantes reportedly engaged the criminals in an ambush.
According to the Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, the group was led by Alhaji Musa Duki, a suspected bandit kingpin operating from Mununu Forest in Faskari Local Government Area.
Recovered items include one G3 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, two cows and 94 sheep. The ministry said no security personnel were injured during the operation.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, said the government would continue ongoing efforts to track criminal elements and restore security across the state, while urging residents to provide credible information to security agencies.
