34-LGA traders cite development projects, MSME support as reasons for backing

Traders Honour Radda for Development, Business Support
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have secured the 2027 second-term endorsement of traders across the state’s 34 local government areas, with the association citing development projects and support for businesses as reasons for its decision.
The endorsement was made on Thursday at the Gwagware Foundation office in Katsina, where the Katsina State Traders’ Association pledged to mobilise its members across the state in support of the re-election of Governor Radda and President Tinubu.
Governor Radda expressed appreciation to the traders for their confidence, cooperation and continued support for his administration since its assumption of office in 2023.
The Governor, who spoke on behalf of himself and President Tinubu, said the endorsement reflected the confidence of the business community in the policies and programmes being implemented by the two administrations.
“We appreciate this confidence and support. It is an indication that our efforts to improve the economy, support businesses and create opportunities for our people are being recognised,” he said.
He said his administration would continue to strengthen support for businesses, expand economic opportunities and create an enabling environment for traders and other economic actors to thrive.
“We will continue to work with the business community because traders are an important part of our economy. Our goal is to ensure that government policies translate into real opportunities, stronger businesses and improved livelihoods for our people,” he said.
The Governor noted that traders remained a critical component of the state’s economy, assuring them that government would sustain its partnership with the business community to promote economic growth and improve livelihoods.
Earlier, Chairman of the Katsina State Traders’ Association, Alhaji Lamis Dan Maliki, said the endorsement followed the association’s assessment of the performance of Governor Radda and President Tinubu, particularly their interventions in development and support for the business community.
“We are satisfied with the leadership of Governor Dikko Radda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially with the development projects being implemented and the support extended to the business community,” he said.
Dan Maliki said the association had resolved to mobilise traders across the 34 local government areas to support the re-election of Governor Radda and President Tinubu in 2027.
He explained that the decision was also aimed at ensuring continuity in programmes and policies from which traders and other members of the public were benefiting.
The Chairman further pledged the association’s support for candidates fielded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at various levels, describing the traders as committed supporters of the party and its leadership.
The Katsina State Traders’ Association also presented an award to Governor Radda in recognition of his contributions to the development of the state and his support for the business community.
The event was attended by Chief of Staff to the Government House, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir Andaje; Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Hon. Engr. Sani Magaji Ingawa; Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Yusuf Rabi’u Jirdede; Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango; among other government officials.
