Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, has assured Governor Dikko Umaru Radda that lawmakers will give speedy consideration to the proposed ₦828.64 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill, describing it as a critical roadmap for the state's continued development and the final budget of the current administration.

Daura gave the assurance shortly after Governor Radda presented the 2027 budget proposal, tagged “Building Your Future IV,” before the Assembly, pledging the legislature’s commitment to ensuring the timely passage of the bill.

The Speaker noted that the House had consistently fulfilled its constitutional responsibilities through the passage of executive bills, adoption of motions and resolutions, as well as oversight activities aimed at promoting good governance and improving the welfare of citizens across the state.

In a moment that drew emotions from lawmakers and guests at the chamber, Daura reflected on his journey as Speaker, suggesting that the occasion could mark his final response to a budget presentation in that capacity.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for what he described as a cordial and productive relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government throughout his tenure.

The Speaker thanked the governor for the cooperation, support and hospitality extended to members of the Assembly, noting that the harmonious relationship between both arms had contributed significantly to governance and development in the state.

Speaking further, Daura sought forgiveness from his colleagues, government officials and the people of Katsina State for any shortcomings during his stewardship, while urging members of the Assembly to remain united and focused on advancing the interests of the state.

He called on lawmakers to sustain the spirit of cooperation and dedication that has characterized the Assembly’s activities, stressing that the progress and stability of Katsina should remain the collective priority of all elected representatives.

The Speaker also reaffirmed the Assembly’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. He offered prayers for divine guidance, success and victory for Governor Radda as he seeks a second term in office.

Meanwhile, the Assembly observed a minute of silence in honour of the late Senator Mandiya, who passed away on Sept. 7, 2026.

Lawmakers paid tribute to the deceased statesman, acknowledging his contributions to the political development of Katsina State and the nation, while praying for the repose of his soul.

The solemn tribute brought a reflective close to the sitting, which was dominated by discussions on the state’s 2027 fiscal plan and the future direction of governance in Katsina State.
