Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified military operations against terrorists and armed criminal groups in Katsina State as part of a new offensive across the North-West.
The Joint Task Force North-West launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV to disrupt terrorist networks, movements and logistics, and prevent them from establishing operational bases in communities across the region.
In Katsina, troops of Sector 2 conducted a clearance operation on Wednesday, August 12, around suspected terrorist enclaves in Dutsinma Local Government Area.
According to the military, the operation put significant pressure on the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into surrounding bushes.
The military said the clearance operation was still ongoing in the area.
The offensive is also targeting terrorist networks in other North-West states, including the Lakurawa group and criminal elements operating around the River Niger axis and Kainji Lake National Park.
The Theatre Command said the operation was aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, disrupting their movements and denying them the opportunity to regroup, reinforce or establish footholds in the region.
